BRACKET RESULTS

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The top-ranked Augsburg College wrestling team claimed two individual champions and 10 individual placewinners in competition at the St. John's University North Country Open on Saturday.

Paul Bjorkstrand (SR, Burnsville, Minn.), ranked No. 4 in the Division III national rankings at 133 pounds, and Zach Molitor (JR, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS), ranked No. 3 nationally at 174, both won their weight classes for the Auggies. No team results were kept at the open tournament.

Bjorkstrand scored five victories, including a major-decision win in the semifinals, en route to his title at 133. He scored a medical forfeit victory over David Thorn, a University of Minnesota wrestler competing as an unattached competitor at the tournament, in the finals.

At 174, Molitor claimed an 18-0, third-period technical-fall win in the second round among his four victories en route to the title. He scored a 6-3 win over Cameron Schrempp of Dickinson State (N.D.) in the finals.

Augsburg had two runners-up in the tournament. At 157, No. 6-ranked Jason Adams (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) claimed a pin and two major-decision wins in his four wins leading up to the final, but lost 5-3 to Steven Monk, a Division I North Dakota State wrestler competing as an unattached competitor at the tournament, in the finals.

At 165, Orlando Ponce (JR, Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah-Miami Lakes HS), ranked No. 6 nationally, went 3-1 to finish second, with his lone loss coming in a 2-1 decision to No. 10-ranked Matt Baarson of St. John's in the finals.

Josh Roberts (FY, Grand Forks, N.D./Central HS) placed third for the Auggies at 125 pounds, going 4-1 with a pin in the competition. Beau Hansen (JR, Albert Lea, Minn.) had the most wins for the Auggies on the day, going 6-1 to place third at 165.

Placing fifth was Jake Grygelko (SR, Loretto, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) at 165, while Cody Hansen (FY, Albert Lea, Minn.) placed seventh at 141, as did #Nick Creamier (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) at heavyweight. Brad Baus (SO, Mukwonago, Wis.) placed eighth at 184.

Augsburg returns to action on Thursday (2/4) at 7 p.m., with a dual meet at No. 2-ranked Wartburg (Iowa).
