MINNEAPOLIS -- Craig Henry (SR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) drove in the go ahead run in the top of the 10th inning and Mark Heise (JR, Foley, Minn.) retired the side in order to lead Augsburg College to a 3-1 victory over Bethany Lutheran College in the first game of a nonconference baseball doubleheader Thursday night at HHH Metrodome. Bethany won the second game of the twinbill 9-0.

Game one featured solid pitching performances by both sides. Augsburg starter Kristofer Ozga (JR, Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson HS) worked six innings while allowing one run on five hits, before being replaced by Heise. Ozga's only blemish came in the bottom half of the fourth when Bethany's Andy Jorge (SR, Corcoran, Minn.) connected on a solo home run. Bethany starter Cody Hallahan (JR, Silver Lake, Minn.) struck out nine in seven innings of work for the Vikings.

Henry's 10th inning single was one of the senior catcher's three hits in the contest. Joe Pierce (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI's, while shortstop Donald Blunt (JR, Richfield, Minn.) went 1-for-4 with a run scored for the Auggies.

Game two saw the Eagles score six runs in the top half of the fourth inning to take an early 7-0 lead. Marshall Nelson  (JR, Albertville, Minn./West Lutheran HS) took the loss for the Auggies after surrendering five runs in three-and-one-third innings of work. Henry again chipped in with two hits, while John Demgen (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) went 1-for-2. Bethany moved their season record to 3-1 with the victory.

Augsburg (1-1 overall) returns to the Metrodome Monday evening (3/8) to host a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Game one is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
