The first-half was close the entire way, with neither team able to extend their lead to more than four points.  A Kornbaum layup with eight seconds left gave the Auggies a 29-28 lead as they headed into the locker room for halftime.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Eren Cur (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) around the 10-minute mark of the second-half, gave Augsburg its first double-digit lead of the night, a 48-37 advantage. A scrappy Hamline team chipped away the Augsburg lead  to 64-62 with just under a minute to play. The Auggies were able to get through the Hamline press and Parker Hines (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) laid the ball up for Kornbaum who slammed it home.  Kornbaum converted 2-for-2 from the free-throw line on the Auggies next possession to close out the scoring and seal the 68-62 victory for the Auggies.

For the game, Augsburg shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) from the field, while the Pipers were converted on 40.3 percent (25-of-62) of their shot attempts. Augsburg claimed a huge advantage on the boards, outrebounding Hamline by a 53-30 margin and claimed a 27-8 advantage in second chance points.

Augsburg is idle until after finals week, when it hosts Pacific Lutheran University (Wash.) in a nonconference contest on Friday, Dec. 21 at Si Melby Hall. The Pipers will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 29, when they travel to Washington to take on Whitman College.
