TOURNAMENT RESULTS (TRACKWRESTLING)
WORTHINGTON, Minn. -- The Augsburg College wrestling team claimed eight placewinners, including five runner-up finishes, at the Minnesota West Community and Technical College Worthington Open on Saturday.
Chad Bartschenfeld (SO, Amery, Wis.) claimed a second-place finish at 125 pounds, scoring two wins over Augustana (S.D.) wrestlers before falling in the final match to Jordan Kingsley of Division I Minnesota. #Tossaporn "Boyd" Suparat# (SR, North Branch, Minn.) won all three of his matches, including a first-period pin, in placing second at 133 pounds.
Tom Kuehn (SO, Fargo, N.D./West Fargo HS) recorded a major-decison and first-period pin in his performance at 141 pounds, placing second.
Josh Kohler (SR, Monticello, Minn.) claimed two pins and a major-decision win in finishing second at 174, and
Matt Hechsel (SO, Apple Valley, Minn.) had a major decision in finishing second at 197.
Roarke Langer (FY, Ellsworth, Wis.) placed third at 133 pounds, as did
Nicolas Grimley (FY, Monticello, Minn.) at heavyweight. Placing fourth was
Mark Akpaka (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) at 149.
Augsburg competes on Sunday (1/20) at 2 p.m. with a dual meet at Division II Augustana (S.D.) in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Auggies are currently ranked No. 7 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national polls, while the Vikings are ranked No. 19 in the latest Division II national poll.
