Andy Seidlitz (JR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Augsburg College men's basketball team to a 76-60 victory over Hamline University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Hutton Arena.
Seidlitz finished with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor, while adding three rebounds and an assist to lead Augsburg (15-3 overall, 10-3 MIAC).
Dan Kornbaum (JR, Little Falls, Minn.) posted his fifth double-double of the season -- and second against the Pipers -- scoring 21 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Hamline (7-11 overall, 4-9 MIAC) was led by Noah Aguirre, who tied finished with 14 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.
The Auggies came out on fire, shooting 56.3 percent (26-of-54) from the field -- including 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from three-point range -- and 88.9 percent (8-of-9) from the free-throw line in the first-half to build a 50-23 lead at the intermission. The big first half proved too much for the Pipers to overcome as the Auggies cruised on to the 76-60 win.
For the game, Augsburg shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) from the floor, while Hamline connected on 40.0 percent (26-of-65) of its shots. The Auggies posted a 38-34 advantage on the boards and were able to hold Hamline to only 13.3 percent (2-of-15) from beyond the arc.
Augsburg and Hamline both return to action on Saturday (1/26) at 3 p.m., with the Auggies traveling up to Moorhead, Minn. to take on Concordia College, while the Pipers travel accross town to take on the University of St. Thomas.
