BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS --
Olivia Muyres (JR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) scored her 13th goal of the season in the 60th minute and goalkeeper
Katie Gajewski (SR, Wausau, Wis./Wausau East HS) collected six saves for her third shutout of the season, keeping the Augsburg College women's soccer team unbeaten with a 1-0 win over Macalester College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday evening at Edor Nelson Field.
Muyres collected a feed from
Abi Rodstein (JR, Eagan, Minn.) and deposited it across the penalty box from 15 yards out for the lone goal of the game, keeping Augsburg unbeaten at 7-0-3 overall, 3-0-0 in MIAC play. It marks the fifth straight game in which Muyres has scored at least one goal.
"Overall I thought it was a very even game. Macalester is a solid team and were difficult to break down," said Augsburg head coach
Mike Navarre. "Fortunately Abi was able to slip Olivia in for a great goal in the second half and our defense was up to the task."
Muyres scored her 13th goal of the season, a total that leads the MIAC in overall statistics. She leads the MIAC in all three scoring categories -- 13 goals, six assists (tied for the lead) and 32 points.
With eight games remaining in the regular season, Muyres is now just one goal away from tying the Augsburg single-season goal record, seven assists away from tying the single-season assist record, and six points away from tying the single-season points record. Kristin Totushek set the single-season goal record with 14 goals in 1997, while Kara Seibel set the single-season points record with 38 (13 goals, 12 assists) in 1995 and Astrid Larssen set the single-season assist record of 13 in 1995.
In her 48-game collegiate career, Muyres now has 25 goals (tied for fourth in Augsburg career history) and 14 assists (11th in school history) for 64 points (fifth in school history).
Meanwhile, Gajewski and the Augsburg defense preserved the win with a stellar game. Gajewski collected six saves to claim her third shutout of the season and 18th shutout of her career -- the fourth-most in school history.
The Auggie back four of
Alekzandra Miller (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS),
Maris Bolender (FY, Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman HS),
Abi Rodstein (JR, Eagan, Minn.) and

Augsburg held a 15-14 shot advantage on Macalester in the evenly-matched game, while Macalester had an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Ellen Palmquist (SR, Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre HS) had seven saves in goal for the Scots, and Georgia Cloepfil (SR, Portland, Ore./Lincoln HS) had five shots for Macalester.
Augsburg has its alumnae scrimmage on Saturday (9/28) at 5:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field, and returns to MIAC play next Wednesday (10/2) at 6:30 p.m., hosting Concordia-Moorhead at Edor Nelson Field.
"We will have some fun on Saturday at our alumnae game and then get back to another difficult MIAC opponent when we host Concordia next Wednesday," Navarre said.
