Muyres sets Augsburg career goals record in 2-1 win

BOXSCORE ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Scoring both Augsburg College goals on Saturday, Olivia Muyres (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) set the school's new school career goal-scoring record, leading Augsburg to a 2-1 win over host St. Catherine University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 2, St. Catherine 1
LOCATION: St. Catherine Field, St. Paul, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 8-3-0 overall (4-1-0 MIAC), St. Catherine 3-6-1 overall (1-4-0 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Muyres scored both goals, her eighth and ninth of the season, to give the Auggies the win. She scored her first goal on a run following a feed by Abigayle Enrici (FY, Huntley, Ill.) just 5:30 into the game.
• Just 2:14 after St. Catherine tied the game, Muyres scored her second goal of the game following a scramble in front of the net. The goal came with 8:07 remaining in the second half.
• St. Catherine outshot Augsburg by a 13-12 margin in the game. Augsburg had five corner kicks to St. Catherine's four.
• Muyres had four shots for the Auggies, while Molly Allen (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) had three shots and Marta Anderson (SO, Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) had two shots.
• Lucy Bukowski (JR, Two Harbors, Minn.) had three saves in goal to pick up the win for Augsburg.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Already Augsburg's career points record-holder, Muyres now has 40 goals and 23 assists for 103 points in 67 career games. She broke the Augsburg career goals record of 38, set by Millie Suk (2002-05). Muyres' 23 assists are tied for third-most in school history.
• Friday's game marked the ninth multi-goal game of Muyres' career.
• Enrici now has two assists this season.

FOR THE FOES
• Nina Bukowski (SR, Two Harbors, Minn.), older sister of Augsburg goalie Lucy Bukowski, tied the game at 1-1 at the 79:39 mark, converting a penalty kick after an Augsburg player was called for a handball in the penalty box.
• Danielle Mendez (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels HS) had two saves in goal for the Wildcats.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG HEAD COACH MIKE NAVARRE
• "We expected it to be difficult, and it certainly was. It was not our best performance, but ultimately we got the job done. I thought we showed some grit in getting the second goal after their late PK. We just had four games on the road in the MIAC, which was a tough stretch and eight of our last nine have been away. Fortunately, we've done well overall and now have time to prepare for an impressive Carleton team. It will be great to be back home but we have to get better if in order to remain a contender."
• "I have to acknowledge Olivia and Molly. For Molly to become the school's all-time assist leader this year and Olivia to now become the school's all-time goal scorer is impressive -- a real credit to two outstanding players and people."

UP NEXT
• Augsburg hosts Carleton next Saturday (10/11) at 7 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
• St. Catherine hosts Simpson (Iowa) on Wednesday (10/8) at 4 p.m.
