FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- No. 2-ranked Augsburg College finished seventh at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III National Duals, held Friday and Saturday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg went 3-2 during the two days of action to move to 9-2 in dual meets this season. On Friday, the Auggies opened with a 28-13 win over No. 20-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater, but dropped a 25-15 decision to No. 8-ranked Wabash (Ohio) to drop into the consolation bracket. Augsburg completed the day on Friday with a 25-18 win over No. 17-ranked Luther (Iowa).
• Augsburg had a pair of one-point decisions on Saturday to finish seventh. Augsburg was edged 20-19 by No. 3-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse, then recovered with a 22-21 win over No. 5-ranked Ithaca (N.Y.) in its final match of the weekend.
• Heavyweight Donny Longendyke (JR, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) reached the 100-victory plateau in his collegiate career with five victories on the weekend, including three pins and a major-decision win. His 2:32 pin of Ithaca's Matthew Booth provided the final margin of victory for the Auggies in the seventh-place match. He also recorded an 11-2, major-decision win over No. 8-ranked Clay Broze of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and also added two sub-1:30 pins on Friday.
• The defending NCAA Division III heavyweight national champion and current top-ranked heavyweight nationally, Longendyke is now 19-2 on the season with 14 pins, and improves to 103-25 in his collegiate career with 59 pins. In two seasons as an Auggie, he is now 63-4 with 36 pins. Of his 103 collegiate wins, 78 are bonus-point victories (75.7 percent) -- 59 pins, three technical falls and 16 major decisions.
Eric Hensel (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), the No. 3-ranked 165-pounder in Division III, went 4-1 on the weekend, recovering from a first-match loss with four straight wins, including two pins, to improve to 16-2 on the season with 12 pins. In the seventh-place match, he scored a 7-4 win over Ithaca's No. 5-ranked Nick Velez.
• Seeing his first action of the season, Rashad Kennedy (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) went 3-2, but two of his wins came against ranked opponents -- a 3-1 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater's No. 3-ranked Isiah Vela, and a 10-6 win over Luther's No. 4-ranked Dakota Gray.
Sam Bennyhoff (FY, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS), ranked No. 8 nationally at 133, also went 3-2 on the weekend with a pin, improving to 14-2 on the season with four pins.
