EAU CLAIREÂ -- Claiming a sweep of the season series, the Augsburg College men's hockey team claimed a 5-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a matchup of nationally ranked teams on Friday evening at the Hobbs Ice Arena.

D3hockey.com national poll, claimed a season sweep of UW-Eau Claire, which entered Friday's game ranked No. 5 by USCHO and No. 7 by D3hockey.com. The
Auggies edged the Blugolds 2-1 in overtime on Nov. 5 at Ed Saugestad Rink.
• The Auggies opened up a 4-0 lead in the first 24:59 of play. It's Augsburg's fourth game this season scoring five or more goals. The Auggies scored three goals on their first six shots on-goal of the game in the first period.

Ryan Cagnoni (FY, Arvada, Colo./D.C. West HS) scored his first two collegiate goals in leading the Auggies to the win. He opened the game with a goal at the 10:17 mark of the first period, assisted by
Paul Soubry (SO, Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Paul's HS) and
Dylan Meier (SR, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Arvada HS), then added an unassisted goal at the 16:49 mark of the opening frame.

Andy Faust (JR, Stillwater, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) capped the scoring for the Auggies with a goal from Pernhem and Brenk at the 9:53 mark of the second period.

Nick Schmit (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) improved to 6-1-1 on the season with 35 saves in goal for the Auggies, as the Auggies were outshot by a 36-23 margin in the game.

• Jay Deo had eight saves in the first two periods for UW-Eau Claire, with David Johnson collecting 10 saves in goal in the third period.
