Augsburg pulls away in 2nd-half, tops Ottawa 87-69

REDLANDS, Calif. -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team remained unbeaten on the year, posting an 87-69 victory over Ottawa University (Ariz.) in tournament action at the University of Redlands Classic on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a close first half, the Auggies broke the game open and were able to extend their lead to as many as 22 points in the second half. The Augsburg offense continued its hot start to the season, as the Auggies have averaged 89 points per-game over their first two contests. 
• As a team, Augsburg shot 49.3 percent (34-of-69) from the field and claimed an impressive 43-34 advantage on the boards. The Auggies posted a 46-26 advantage in points in the paint and a 21-9 advantage in points off-turnovers.
• Augsburg was led by Booker Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS), who posted his second double-double of the young season, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Coplin was 11-of-20 from the field and added three assists.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was Kevin McKiernan (SR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and Henry Mulligan (JR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS), who finished with 15 and 12 points respectively. The duo combined for seven 3-pointers, while McKiernan added a season-best seven rebounds.
• Mark Della Vedova (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) finished 4-for-5 from the floor, posting an eight-point, five-rebound night, while Matt Carik (SO, Rogers, Minn.) dished out a team-best five assists, to go along with seven points and three rebounds.

FOR THE FOES
• Ottawa was led by Dimetres Moore, who finished with 17 points and five rebounds.
• Brian King Jr. paced Ottawa on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds, to go along with 14 points and three assists.

• Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (11/17) at 9 p.m. (Central time), taking on tournament host Redlands (Calif.).
