MINNEAPOLIS -- Tying a 29-year-old single-game school record with 18 three-pointers, the Augsburg University men's basketball team cruised to a 99-67 nonconference win over the University of Minnesota Morris on Tuesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg scored the first 16 points of the game in the opening 3:16 of play and never looked back, leading by as many as 33 points in the first half and by 32 points, 59-27 at halftime. The Auggies pulled away further in the second half, leading by as many as 47 points down the stretch. Augsburg led for all but the opening 32 seconds of play.
• Augsburg connected on 18-of-31 (58.1 percent) from three-point range, tying a single-game school record set twice in the 1989-90 season -- 18-of-39 in a 97-77 win over Northwestern-St. Paul on Nov. 30, 1989, and 18-of-39 in a 95-90 win over Bethel on Dec. 2, 1989.
• All 16 Augsburg players who dressed for the contest saw game action, with 12 different Auggies scoring. No Auggie played more than 20 minutes in the game.
• Seven different Auggies connected on at least one 3-pointer in the game, led by
Henry Mulligan (JR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS), who went 5-of-8 from three-point range and 7-of-10 from the field, en route to a career-high 19-point game in just 17 minutes of play. His five 3-pointers made are also a career-best.

Booker Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS), the
Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's leading scorer with a 26.6 points per-game average, led the Auggies with 22 points, to go along with five steals, three assists and six rebounds. He connected on 6-of-9 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line in 20 minutes of action.

Kevin McKiernan (SR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) went 4-for-7 from three-point range, en route to a 14-point night in 20 minutes played, while
Will Schmidt (FY, Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) came off the bench to score 12 points, on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range, in just 12 minutes of action.

Mark Della Vedova (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, adding six rebounds in 14 minutes of action.
Matt Carik (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) scored seven points with six assists, five rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes played.
• Augsburg connected on 52.2 percent (35-of-67) from the field and 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the free-throw line. Augsburg recorded assists on 29-of-35 made baskets. The Auggies outrebounded the Cougars by a 42-32 margin.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• In the 1989-90 season, when the Auggies originally set their single-game three-pointer records, the Auggies led all NCAA Division III teams in three-pointers made per-game (10.6, 266 total). It was the third campaign with the three-pointer in college basketball.

Booker Coplin's father, Tac Coplin '91, hit three-pointers in both record-setting games in 1989-90, hitting one and scoring four points in the win over Northwestern and hitting 7-of-8 from outside the arc with a game-high 32 points in the win over Bethel.
• Augsburg's 86 three-pointers made as a team are currently tops among MIAC teams, while its 83.3 points per-game average is third-best.
FOR THE FOES
• Trent Jerome came off the bench to score a team-best 12 points for Minnesota-Morris, while Tath Dak scored nine points with five rebounds and four assists. Kenneth Riley and James Pendleton scored eight points each, with Riley adding five rebounds and Pendleton adding four assists.
• The Cougars were limited to 38.7 percent (24-of-62) shooting from the field, including 29.6 percent (8-of-27) from three-point range.
