MARSHALL, Minn. -- Winning eight of 10 bouts, including the first four by bonus-point margins, the Augsburg University wrestling team improved to 8-0 in dual meets with a 32-6 victory at Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The top-ranked team in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national rankings, Augsburg claimed wins in the first five bouts over the Division II Mustangs, en route to the dominating victory. Augsburg claimed two pins and two wins by major decision among its eight victories in the match.
• Claiming pins for Augsburg were No. 4-ranked 125-pounder Victor Gliva (JR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) and No. 3-ranked 141-pounder David Flynn (JR, Jordan, Minn./Jordan HS (Scott West)), both in third-period match-enders. Flynn improved to 11-1 with his fourth pin of the season, while Gliva moved to 13-3 with his fifth pin.
• No. 4-ranked 133-pounder Sam Bennyhoff (SR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) improved to 11-1 on the year with his sixth bonus-point win and fourth major-decision triumph, an 11-3 victory. No. 7-ranked 149-pounder Alex Wilson (SR, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) improved to 18-2 with his 13th bonus-point win, an 11-3 major-decision victory.
• In the only meeting of ranked wrestlers on the day, defending 157-pound Division III national champion Ryan Epps (JR, Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls HS), currently ranked No. 2 nationally, rallied late for a 2-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State's No. 8-ranked 157-pounder, Cortez Arredondo. Epps is now 18-1 on the season and 93-9 in his collegiate career.
• No. 4-ranked 197-pounder Lance Benick (SO, Scandia, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) improved to 14-2 with an 8-5 win, and Solomon Nielsen (SO, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS) improved to 14-3 with a 6-3 victory. No. 5-ranked 174-pounder Tanner Vassar (JR, Maple Lake, Minn./Maple Lake HS) was taken to overtime by SMSU's Dru Kuchenbaker, but claimed a 9-7 win to improve to 8-3.
• SMSU claimed two wins on the day, with Kegen Fingalsen scoring a 9-5 win over 165-pounder Joshua Verbeten (JR, Wrightstown, Wis./Wrightstown HS), and Andrew Peterson topping Auggie heavyweight Ethan Hofacker (JR, Spring Valley, Wis./Spring Valley HS) 5-2.
