NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Booker Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) scored a career-high 38 points to lead the Augsburg University men's basketball team to a big 96-89 overtime win over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival St. Olaf College on Saturday afternoon at the Skoglund Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Coplin hit the game-tying basket with 6.5 seconds remaining to force overtime. In the extra session, Augsburg jumped out to a 91-86 lead, but St. Olaf hit a jumper on its next possession to cut the Auggie lead to three. In the final 1:11, Augsburg was able to hit 5-of-6 from the free throw line to seal the important MIAC win.
• Coplin's outstanding 38-point performance came on a 11-for-21 effort from the field and 13-of-16 effort at the free-throw line. He added eight rebounds, five assists and tied a career-high with six steals. Saturday's effort was Coplin's fifth 30-point game of the season and third in his last four games.
• Leading Augsburg on the boards was
Matt Carik (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS), who pulled down 11 rebounds and added 14 points for his third career double-double. Carik was 5-for-8 from the field and added four assists.

Henry Mulligan (JR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) and
Kevin McKiernan (SR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) added 18 and 15 points respectively. Both were 4-for-9 from three-point range and combined for six rebounds and three assists.
• Also scoring in double figures for Augsburg was
Carter Duncan (JR, Chisago City, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS), who added 11 points and five rebounds, shooting 5-of-8 from the field.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the field, while St. Olaf connected on 43.5 percent (30-of-69) of its shot attempts. The Oles posted a 46-36 advantage on the boards, while the Auggies had a 12-4 advantage in fast break points.
FOR THE FOES
• St. Olaf was led by the duo of Troy Diggins Jr. and Nate Albers, who scored 21 points apiece.
• Austin Korba added a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double for the Oles.

MIAC scoring leader Coplin is now averaging 25.9 points per-game. Only four Augsburg players since 1970 have ever averaged 25 or more points per-game in a single season.
