MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University Athletic Department is holding a drive to collect gently used winter clothing to be donated to a local agency that serves families experiencing homelessness.
Individuals can donate gently used and/or new winter jackets, winter gear (hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, etc.) and sweatshirts to the drive, which is being held from Monday, Nov. 9 to Wednesday, Dec. 2. All sizes are needed, from infant to adult. In particular, sizes adult XL through 5X are needed.
Items will be donated to
People Serving People, a comprehensive emergency shelter in Minneapolis for families experiencing homelessness. In 2019, the shelter served 2,597 individuals in 903 families experiencing homelessness. Of the 2,597 individuals served, 63 percent were children. The shelter features 99 emergency rooms, including 10 two-bedroom supportive apartments.Â
Items can be donated at three locations on the Augsburg campus: the main athletic department office (Si Melby Hall 205) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Augsburg volleyball office (Si Melby Hall 137), and the lower level admissions suite in the Christensen Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
