Auggie track competes at Macalester Hamster Invite

WOMEN'S RESULTS | MEN'S RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's and women's track and field teams recorded solid performances on Friday at the Macalester College Hamster Invitational.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• All-American sprinter Jada Lewis (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Edison HS) finished in third place in the 200-meter dash, with a season-best 26.53-second effort, a time that currently ranks fourth-best among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sprinters in the event. She also leads the MIAC in the 60-meter dash, with a 7.96-second effort earlier this season, a time that ranks 11th-fastest among all NCAA Division III sprinters nationally.
• Zoe Barany (FY, Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East HS) placed sixth in the 1,000-meter run with a 3:18.98 time, an effort that ranks 17th in the MIAC so far this season.
• Ann Sheely (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) set a personal-best indoor time of 11:28.19 in the 3,000-meter run, finishing 13th.
• Destiny Cummings (SO, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) continued her strong indoor season in the throws. She finished seventh in the weight throw with a 12.17-meter (39-feet-11.25) toss, then placed 11th in the shot put with a 10.20-meter (33-feet-5.75) effort. Shadin Elkhair (SO, Fridley, Minn./Fridley HS) finished 12th in the weight throw with a 10.64-meter (14-feet-11.0) effort.
• Riley Pohl (FY, Duluth, Minn./Denfeld HS) set her second straight season-best in the 800-meter run, finishing 11th in 2:34.39.
• Sprinter Joy Cooper (FY, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) set a season-best time with an 8.53-second 60-meter dash, finishing 10th in the preliminaries. Hope Kannare (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) finished 14th in 8.82 seconds, Jordan Terry (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) placed 15th in 8.90 seconds and Kennedy Pounds (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Brooks School (Mass.)) finished 16th in 9.01 seconds. Pounds also placed 19th in the 200-meter dash in 29.81 seconds, and Kannare finished 12th in the 400-meter dash in 1:10.03.
• As a team, Augsburg finished seventh in the 10-team meet with 13 points.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg sprinters had another outstanding weekend, with three Auggies making the finals in the 60-meter dash. Varney Conneh (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) set a season-best with a 7.08-second time, finishing second in the finals. His time is currently fifth-fastest in the MIAC in the event. Jaison Moore (FY, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) finished fourth in 7.19 seconds, with his 7.18-second preliminary time now 10th-fastest in the conference. Taron Busby (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Hope Academy HS) set another personal best in the 60, finishing eighth in 7.35 seconds.
• Conneh also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a season-best 23.79-second effort, while Gabriel Olajonlu (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) set a personal-best time in 24.47 seconds.
• Olajonlu and Parker Blake (SO, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had strong efforts in the 400-meter dash, with Olajonlu setting a personal-best with an 11th-place, 54.08-second finish, while Blake finished 13th in 54.22 seconds.
• Sakariya Hussien (FY, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) continued to shine in the middle distances, placing fourth in the 1,000-meter run with a 2:35.85 time, currently seventh-fastest in the MIAC. Ty Schneider (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) set a season-best in the 600-meter run with a 1:33.59 finish.
• Patrick Deng (SR, Crookston, Minn./Crookston HS) finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.37 seconds.
• Alex Bailey (JR, Palmer Lake, Colo./Lewis-Palmer HS) finished eighth in the high jump with a 1.83-meter (6-feet-0.0) clearance, while Fritz Landherr (FY, Tracy, Minn./Tracy Area HS) finished 11th with a 1.73-meter (5-feet-8.0) clearance.
• Tony Guzeman (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) finished 13th in the shot put with a 11.95-meter (39-feet-2.5) effort, while Evan Bergemann (SO, Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) finished 14th at 11.58 meters (38-feet-0.0). Bergman finished 12th in the eight throw with a 12.30-meter (40-feet-4.25) effort.
• As a team, Augsburg finished seventh in the 10-team meet with 25 points.
