COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Winning 13 of 14 bouts against the hosts, the Augsburg University men's wrestling team competed in a non-team-scored match at Saint John's University on Saturday afternoon. In all, 28 Augsburg wrestlers saw action in the opener of its abbreviated 2021 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg claimed wins in 13 of 14 of its bouts against the Johnnies, scoring four pins, four technical falls and a major decision. Augsburg wrestlers also competed in seven intrasquad matches.

Carl Leuer (FY, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) made his collegiate debut in impressive fashion. scoring a 49-second pin at 165 pounds. Also competing at 165,
Moses Madimba (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) claimed his fourth collegiate pin in 1:42, and
Isaiah Thompson (FY, Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes HS) opened his career with a 2:25 pin.
Tim Mandyck (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) scored a third-period pin at 285 pounds.

Tyler Kim (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS), who entered the 2020-21 season ranked No. 9 in the initial National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national rankings at 285 pounds, scored a 20-3, third-period technical fall win. He used four takedowns, a reversal and three 4-point near-falls to claim the win.

Tyler Shilson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Centennial HS), a transfer from Division I Tennessee-Chattanooga, made his Augsburg debut in quick fashion with a 16-1 technical fall win in just 2:14 at 165 pounds. Leading 5-1 after the first minute, Shilson scored three 4-point near-falls in a 54-second span to end the match early.

Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (SO, Loyal, Wis./Marshfield HS) improved to 21-9 in his Auggie career with an 18-0, 3:29 technical fall, while
Nick Rogge (JR, Eastman, Wis./Prairie du Chien HS) improved to 55-14 in his career with an 18-0, 2:07 technical fall win, using a takedown and four 4-point near-falls. Both Schwanebeck-Ostermann and Rogge competed in two bouts against Johnnie foes, claiming decision wins in their other matches.

Tate Torgerson (SO, Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) scored a 13-5, major decision win at 149 pounds.
• Also scoring wins for the Auggies in competition against the Johnnies were
Justin Stauffacher (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS (Scott West)) at 125 pounds and
Tanner Kroells (SO, Delano, Minn./Delano HS) at 149.
• In intrasquad matches, four Auggies claimed major-decision wins, including
Solomon Nielsen (SR, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS), ranked No. 3 nationally at 174 pounds.
Brady Gross (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Apple Valley HS) won by major decision at 141, and
Yim-Leej Yang (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS, 125 pounds) and
Charlie Stuhl (FY, Ellsworth,Wis./Ellsworth HS, 149 pounds) made their collegiate debuts with major decisions.
