Four Auggies selected for MIAC volleyball honors

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its annual volleyball awards on Wednesday and Augsburg University had four selections to the all-conference teams.

Outside hitter Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) earned her second career All-MIAC selection while right-side hitter Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) and setter Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) earned the first All-MIAC honors of their careers. Right-side hitter Elli Honzay (SR, Olivia, Minn./Bold HS) was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team for the first time in her career.

Kayla GjerdeWith her second selection the All-MIAC Team, Gjerde has established herself as one of the best players in the conference. The senior tallied a team-high 241 kills on the season (2.39 per-set), good for 11th in the conference. She also contributed 307 digs (3.04 per-set), second-most on the team and 13th among MIAC players. Gjerde added 33 blocks (two solo) on the season.

With 868 kills in her career and a career average of 2.58 per-set, Gjerde now ranks seventh in Augsburg history. She also ranks 15th in Augsburg history with 922 digs in her career.


Kevin BoysenBoysen also had a dominant season for the Auggies, racking up 239 kills (2.60 per-set) to rank second among all Augsburg players and 12th among all MIAC players. The senior also tallied a career-high 52 digs to go along with 37 blocks (10 solo).

Boysen now ranks 15th in program history with 644 career kills and seventh in program history with 247 total blocks.



Lexie LangLang was another key contributor for the Auggies, racking up a team-high and career-best 770 assists on the season. Her average of 7.53 assists per set ranked sixth among all MIAC players this season. The senior was strong all over the court, adding in 267 digs (2.62 per-set, third on the team) and 104 kills (1.02 per set). Lang accounted for 770 of the team's 1193 assists on the season, good for third in the MIAC.

Lang now ranks eighth in program history with 1429 assists in her career

Elli HonzayHonzay was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team, as part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the court.
