MINNEAPOLIS – Propelled by a career-high 31 points from
Joe Palmer (JR, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) and a flurry of three-point shots, the Augsburg University men's basketball team earned an 88-69 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall to keep its perfect MIAC record alive.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was extremely competitive in the early minutes with the Auggies holding a narrow 21-20 lead near the midpoint of the first half. The Auggies began to pull away late in the first, outscoring the Knights 20-12 over the final 10 minutes of the half to bring a 41-32 lead into the break.
• The Auggies were the better team again in the second half, putting up 47 points to the Knights' 37 to seal the 19-point win.
• The Auggies let it fly from beyond the arc all game, knocking down 17 of their 37 attempts from deep (45.9%). Augsburg's 17 made three-pointers in the game were just one shy of the program record 18.
• Palmer put on a show in the game with a career-high 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting including seven-of-12 from deep. He also contributed six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block.

Matt Carik (SR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) was the second-leading scorer for Augsburg with 15 points on four-of-nine shooting to go along with five assists, two steals, and a board.
Jack Sorenson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) also got into double figures with 12 points on four-of-eight shooting with two rebounds and two assists.

Bradley Winter (JR, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) recorded eight points for the Auggies while
Rayquan Moore (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) and
Will Schmidt (SR, Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) each registered seven points.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Following the game, Palmer sits atop the
MIAC overall statistics rankings with 9.0 rebounds per-game and also ranks second with 23.3 points per-game.
• The 85th meeting between the two teams all-time, Saturday's win gave the Auggies a 46-39 advantage in the series and stretched the Augsburg winning streak over Carleton to five games.
FOR THE FOES
• Jeremy Beckler was the leading scorer for the Knights with 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting.
