MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- With four wrestlers winning or sharing weight-class titles, the Augsburg University men's wrestling team captured the team championship at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational, held on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Seventeen Auggies competed at the MSOE meet, going a combined 52-21 with 30 bonus-point victories (11 pins, 12 technical falls, seven major decisions). Eleven Auggies claimed top-five finishes.

Tyler Shilson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Centennial HS) had a dominant performance in winning the 157-pound weight class, with four technical-fall victories to improve to 11-0 on the season. In the semifinals, he claimed a 21-6, 4:20 win over Jack O'Donnell of Concordia-Wisconsin, the No. 11-ranked wrestler in the latestÂ
National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll, then scored a 17-0, 3:44 win over No. 10-ranked Killian Perrigon of Cornell (Iowa) in the finals. Of Shilson's 11 wins this season, 10 are bonus-point victories (seven technical falls, three major decisions).

Nick Rogge (SR, Eastman, Wis./Prairie du Chien HS) won his weight class with four bonus-point decisions -- a pin and three technical falls. He claimed a 16-0, 2:03 win over Cornell's Cael McLaren in the semifinals, then recorded a 15-0, 4:04 win over Colin Honderd of Cornell in the finals. Rogge is now 11-2 on the season with two pins, seven technical falls and two major decisions.

Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (JR, Loyal, Wis./Marshfield HS) andÂ
Parker Venz (FY, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) shared the title at 197 pounds, with both wrestlers reaching the finals with 3-0 records. Schwanebeck-Ostermann, now 8-2 on the year, had a pin and a major decision among his three wins, and Venz, also 8-2 on the year, recorded three first-period pins, including a 31-second pin in the semifinals.

Tyler Kim (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS), ranked No. 4 in the latest Division III national rankings at 285 pounds, continued his run against top-class competition with a second-place finish in his weight class. He went 4-1 with a pin and a technical fall on Saturday. He scored a 4-3 win over Curtis Ruff II of Triton (Ill.), the No. 6 wrestler in the NJCAA national rankings, in the quarterfinals, then claimed a 3-1 win over No. 12-ranked Mason Hawkins of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the semifinals -- avenging a 4-3 loss to Hawkins in a dual last week. In the finals, Kim suffered an 8-3 defeat to No. 6-ranked Jordan Lemcke of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Kim is now 14-3 on the season.

Solomon Nielsen (SR, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS), the top-ranked 174-pounder nationally, went 3-1 with a technical fall to finish second, moving to 13-1 on the year. He was edged 6-5 in the finals by No. 2-ranked Ben Sarasin of the University of Chicago (Ill.).

Matt Rogge (FY, Eastman, Wis./Prairie du Chien HS) finished third at 165 pounds, as did
Kaden Reetz (SO, Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) at 157 and Charllie Stuhl (SO, Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth HS) at 149.

Austin Gabbert (FY, Lester Prairie, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) finished fourth a 133 pounds, andÂ
Brady Gross (JR, Rosemount, Minn./Apple Valley HS) finished fifth at 141 pounds.

• Augsburg's White Team (junior varsity) competes at the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragon Open on Sunday (12/5) at 9 a.m., and the Auggie varsity is back in action next Saturday (12/11) at 9 a.m. at the North Central (Ill.) Invitational.
