Bati claims second at UW-La Crosse Invitational

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

WEST SALEM, Wis. – Paced by a second-place finish from Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia/GAP School), the Augsburg University men's cross country team finished in 15th place while the women placed 28th at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Cross on Saturday morning.

AUGSBURG MEN

• Bati came within three seconds of his personal-best (and school record) 8k time, clocking a 24:25.95 to finish in second place in the 424-runner field. The second-place finish ended Bati's career-opening streak of four individual titles in a row as he finished just a tenth of a second behind Aspel Kiprob of Iowa Central Community College.
Sakariya Hussien (JR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) was the second Auggie across the line, finishing 104th (86th team) in 26:45.98. Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) finished 117th (98th team) in 26:57.27 while Bereket Wondimu (SO, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) landed 155th (119th team) in 27:20.53.
Grayson Harris (SO, Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge HS) placed 280th (165th team) with a time of 28:58.3 and Henry Nelson (FY, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) finished in 29:08.8 to claim 292nd (169th team). Joseph Kubly (FY, Crystal, Minn. Robbinsdale Cooper HS) finished in 197th (171st team) with a time of 29:11.0.
Max Jacobson (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Zurich International School) clocked a 29:27.0 while Aaron Puent (SR, La Crosse, Wis./La Crosse Aquinas HS) finished in 30:00.06. Sam Scheuneman (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville HS) clocked a time of 33:18.3 and Pollei Ali (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) made his season debut with a time of 34:02.8.

AUGSBURG WOMEN

• For the fourth time in as many races, Gracie Johnson (JR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) set a new personal record with a 6k time of 23:52.7, good for 48th place (41st team) in the 364-runner field.
Brooklyn Conrad (FY, Ortonville, Minn./ Ortonville HS) also set a new personal record, finishing in 25:52.6 to claim 192nd (139th team).
• Chloe Kintop (SR, Foxboro, Wis./Superior HS) landed in 290th (174th team) with a time of 27:39.3. Tateum Park (JR, Davenport, Iowa/Davenport North HS) finished in 256th (199th team) in 31:06.1 while Annabel Lantz (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) was just behind her in 358th (200th team) with a time of 31:17.1.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will now shift their focus to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks on Saturday, October 29 at Highland 9-Hole Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn.
