Auggie men 6th at MIAC Championships

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

COON RAPIDS, Minn. – Led by a 13th-place individual finish by Fritz Belisle (JR, Red Wing, Minn./Roseville Area HS), the Augsburg University men's golf team placed sixth as a team at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, held over the weekend at Bunker Hills Golf Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Belisle tied his career-best 54-hole total with a 226 (80-70-76), with his second-round 70 setting a new collegiate career-best single-round score. He tied for 13th place in the 45-golfer individual field. It's his second straight top-20 finish at the MIAC Championships, after finishing in a tie for 12th place in last year's league meet. Belisle finished the fall half of the 2022-23 season with a 77.1 stroke average.
• Stellan Orvick (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) finished in a tie for 21st place with a 231 (79-79-73) total, marking his third straight top-25 finish at the MIAC meet. He finished eighth in 2020-21 and tied for 16th last year. Orvick finished as the team's leader in scoring average in the fall half of the season with a 75.7 stroke average.
• River Goodmanson (JR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) tied for 25th place with a 232 (79-74-79) score, his third straight top-25 finish at the conference meet. He finished in a tie for fifth place in 2019 and tied for 18th last year. Goodmanson finished the fall half of the season with a 78.4 stroke average.
• Competing in his first MIAC Championships after transferring from St. Thomas, Vincent Weis (JR, Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) finished in 36th place with a 243 (75-85-83) score. Weis averaged 81.1 strokes per-round this fall.
Jack Robbel (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) finished his second career MIAC meet with a 37th-place finish, scoring 244 (79-84-81). He was fourth on the team in stroke average this fall, at 78.4.
• As a team, Augsburg finished in sixth place with a 928 (312-307-309) score, closing the fall half of the 2022-23 season with a 311.7 team stroke average.
