ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Augsburg University softball team split a pair of one-run games in a nonconference doubleheader at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Thursday evening, winning 7-6 and losing 5-4.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg built a 7-2 lead after six innings, but Northwestern rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Northwestern had two runners on base with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh, but the Auggies forced an infield flyout, a strikeout and a groundout to end the game.

Olivia O'Connor (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) pitched a complete-game victory for the Auggies, striking out five against one walk and 11 hits.

Meredith Taylor (FY, Randolph, Minn./Randolph HS) singled and scored on an RBI groundout by
Morgan Benson (FY, Circle Pines, Centennial HS) in the second inning, and
Katie Manecke (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) singled and scored on an Taylor groundout in the third.

Zoie Johnson (FY, Carlton, Minn./Esko HS) hit her first collegiate home run, a three-run blast to center field in the fifth inning. The Auggies plated two runs in the sixth, as Manecke scored on a fielding error, and
Torrie Rehder (FY, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) singled to drive home Taylor.

Sabriya Passmore (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS),
Sara Deming (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and
Grace Syson (SO, Oshkosh, Wis./Lourdes Academy HS) had two hits each for the Auggies, with Rehder hitting a double.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Northwestern claimed a 3-1 lead after three innings, but Augsburg tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Eagles took the lead back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and while Augsburg cut the lead to 5-4 with a run in the sixth, it could not get any closer.
• Passmore led off the second game with a triple and scored on a Deming groundout.
• Rehder led off the fifth inning with a single and Johnson hit a double.
Bella Kallas (SR, Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) drove home Rehder on a groundout, and Johnson scored after a dropped fly ball.
• Taylor hit an RBI double to plate Deming in the sixth inning.

Brynn Hostettler (FY, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) pitched a complete-game effort for the Auggies, striking out 11 while walking six.
FOR THE FOES
• Leadoff hitter Briggs Carlson had three hits in the first game, including a double.
• Kate Beer hit a two-run double in the second game for Northwestern.
