MINNEAPOLIS – Augsburg University women's basketball forward
Jen Masello (SR, Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South HS) was named to the
D3hoops.com All-Region 9 Second Team, it was announced recently.
The structure of the All-Region awards was altered this year following the decision to split Division III into 10 regions this season. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team. This reorganization results in approximately 10 additional players being recognized when compared to previous full seasons.
Masello becomes the second Auggie all-time to earn the D3hoops.com All-Region designation, following
Tamira McLemore (2018-19).
The All-Region honor comes after Masello was
named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned All-MIAC and MIAC All-Defensive Team honors last month, becoming the first Auggie women's basketball player to be named MIAC Player of the Year.
Masello had a dominant year for the Auggies, starting all 27 games and ranking eighth in the MIAC with 14.2 points per-game and second in the MIAC with 8.8 rebounds per-game while sitting seventh with a field goal percentage of 48.3%. She finished in double-figures 23 times this season, including five 20-plus point performances and 10 double-doubles. Masello was named the MIAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week twice during the season, earning the award in consecutive weeks in November.
In addition to her prowess on offense, Masello was also the leader for the Auggies on defense, ranking first in the MIAC with 49 blocks (1.8 per-game) and fourth with 60 steals (2.2 per-game).
For her career, Masello has played in 82 games and made 33 starts, tallying 615 points, 457 rebounds, 111 assists, 106 steals, and 94 blocks.
