Auggies drop pair to MIAC leaders

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Torrie Rehder (FY, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) hit her first collegiate home run as part of a 3-for-3 effort in the second game for Augsburg University, but the Auggies dropped a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader to conference-leader Bethel University on Friday afternoon.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Bethel pitcher Kayla Simacek threw a five-inning perfect game, retiring all 15 batters she faced with nine strikeouts. 
• Auggie pitcher Olivia O'Connor (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) had one strikeout against a walk and 10 Bethel hits. Two of the runs against her were unearned.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Rehder had three of Augsbug's five hits in the second game, including a solo homer to left-center to lead off the seventh inning. 
• Sabriya Passmore (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and Sara Deming (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had the other Auggie base hits in the game.
Libby Moore (FY, Springville, Iowa/Springville HS) struck out three against three walks and eight hits in a complete-game pitching effort.

FOR THE FOES
• Jamie Axelberg went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBI, and Kayla Hokanson went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the first game for Bethel.
• Simacek pitched all 12 innings in the two games for Bethel, striking out nine in the first game and 13 in the second game against no walks.
