2023 MIAC MEN'S SOCCER AWARDS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four Augsburg University men's soccer players earned postseason honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, it was announced on Tuesday. Forwards Mizael Harris (SO, Portland, Ore./La Salle Catholic College Prep HS), Kebba Janneh (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) and Mitchel Munzing (SO, Portland, Ore./Grant HS) were named to the 22-member All-MIAC team, while defender Drew Collins (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) was one of 12 conference players named All-MIAC Honorable Mention. Harris was also named to the 11-member MIAC All-Playoff Team, honoring outstanding performances in the six-team MIAC postseason playoffs. It is the first conference honors for Harris, Janneh and Munzing. It's Collins' third MIAC postseason selection, after earning All-MIAC honors last year and All-MIAC Honorable Mention in 2021.

A dynamic playmaker utilizing both speed and finesse, Harris finished his sophomore campaign with six goals and 13 assists for 25 points, leading the MIAC in assists while ranking fourth in total points and tied for 14th in goals scored. His 13 assists tied a single-season school record, set twice before (1974, 1976) by Darcy Debing. His 0.72 assists per-game average currently ranks fourth among all NCAA Division III players nationally, as does his 13 assists. Playing in all 18 games (1,236 minutes, 68.7 minutes per-game), he recorded a goal or assist in 10 games, with four multiple-assist games. He scored two goals with two assists in the Auggies' 10-0 win over Martin Luther on Sept. 21. In his 35-game college career (2,018 minutes, 57.7 minutes per-game), Harris now has 14 goals and 20 assists for 48 points, second in school history in career assists and 10th in career points.

A strong force in the attacking third of the field, Janneh had a true nose for the ball, capitalizing on goal-scoring opportunities often this season, scoring a single-season school-record 15 goals, while adding five assists for 35 points -- the second-most points in a single season in school history. Janneh finished his season leading the MIAC in both goals and points, while he was tied for 13th in assists. Among NCAA Division III players nationally, Janneh stands 20th in total goals and total points, while ranking 22nd in goals per-game and 21st in points per-game. Playing in 17 games (1,064 minutes, 62.6 minutes per-game), Janneh had a point in 10 games, with a goal in nine contests and six multi-goal games. He scored a season-best six points (two goals, two assists) in Augsburg's 10-0 win at Minnesota Morris on Sept. 9. In his 52-game college career (2,520 minutes, 48.5 minutes per-game), Janneh now has 35 goals with 11 assists for 81 points, now tied for second in school history in career goals, third in career points and tied for 14th in career assists.

Munzing had a breakout year in 2023, establishing his presence as a creative goal-scorer and playmaker. He finished the season with seven goals and eight assists for 22 points, tied for eighth among MIAC players in goals, tied for fifth in assists and seventh in points. He had a goal or assist in eight of his 17 games (1,024 minutes, 60.2 minutes per-game), with two multi-goal games -- a three-goal hat trick in Augsburg's 4-2 win at Concordia-Moorhead on Oct. 7 and a two-goal, two assist game in the Auggies' 10-0 win at Minnesota Morris on Sept. 5. In 35 career games (1,658 minutes, 47.4 minutes per-game), Munzing now has 11 goals and 12 assists for 34 points.

Collins finished his career as one of the best defenders in Augsburg history, a steadying presence in the back third throughout his career. Competing in 15 of Augsburg's 18 games this season, he played in 1,252 minutes (83.5 minutes per-game), the third-most minutes of any player on the team, with 11 full-90-minute efforts. He finished with one assist on the year, but was the leader of an Auggie defense that allowed just 21 goals, a plus-31 goal differential and a 1.17 team goals against-average that ranked fifth-best in the MIAC. Collins finished his 70-game career (5,578 minutes, 79.7 minutes per-game) with three goals and five assists for 11 points. In addition to his conference honors, Collins also earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region IX honors in both his sophomore and junior years, and was named United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region and Scholar All-America in 2022, in addition to earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

Under 20th-year head coach Greg Holker, Augsburg finished 8-4-6 overall, 4-1-5 in MIAC play in 2023, earning a spot in the MIAC playoffs for the eighth time since the 2006 season, and fourth time in the last eight full campaigns. Augsburg has recorded eight or more wins in 15 of the last 18 seasons.
