Another race, another win, another record for Bati

WEST SALEM, Wis. – Mohammed Bati (JR, Dodola,Ethiopia/GAP School) continued his record-setting cross country season for Augsburg University, setting a new school record for the second straight race in winning the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational on Saturday at the Maple Grove Venues.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Winning the 279-runner Jim Drews Invitational for the second straight year, Bati finished the 8,000-meter race in 24:06.0, breaking his old school record of 24:13.40, set in the Auggies' last race two weeks ago at the Carleton Running of the Cows. Marking his 11th win in his 17th collegiate race, Bati won the UW-La Crosse race by 53.9 seconds over the second-place competitor.
• Five of the seven Auggies who competed in the race had personal-best 8K times. Yassir Ali (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Fridley HS) was the second Auggie to finish, placing 205th in a personal-best 30:26.7.
Henry Nelson (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) finished 251st in 32:42.7, Paul Yang (FY, St. Paul, Minn. Washington Tech Magnet HS) finished 255th in a personal-best 32:54.2, and Kyler Badwarrior (FY, Shakopee, Minn./V. Sue Cleveland HS) set a personal-best time of 33:16.1 to finish 257th.
Pollei Buux Caliyare (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) finished 261st in 34:10.5, and Landon Weber (FY, Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont HS) finished 267th in a personal-best 35:29.5.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Four Auggie women competed in the race, led by Alwena Brix (FY, Plouay, France/Lycee Jean Mace, Rennes), who finished 166th in the 237-runner race in 27:07.1.
Annabel Lantz (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) finished 221st in 30:37.3, followed by Davi Worman (SO, Edina, Minn./Groves Academy), who finished 226th in 31:36.3.
• Nathalie Hain (FY, Pfaffenhofen, Germany Schyren-Gymnasium Pfaffenhofen) set a personal-best of 36:36.1, placing 234th.

• The Auggies next compete on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
