6 Auggies earn CSC Academic All-District Men's At-Large honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Six Augsburg University student-athletes were named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
Men's hockey athlete and men's golfer Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) was named to the academic squad, along with men's golfer Stellan Orvick (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS), men's hockey player Logan Kons (SR, Niles, Ill./Niles West HS), and men's wrestlers Seth Goetzinger (JR, Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield HS), Tyler Kim (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and Charlie Stuhl (JR, Ellsworth, Wis./Ellsworth HS).
 
Stuhl, an Academic All-America first-team selection last year, repeated his Academic All-District selection from 2022-23, as did Orvick. Belisle, Goetzinger, Kim, Orvick and Stuhl will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members and announced on July 17.
 
Fritz BelisleA finance and business management major with a 3.92 grade-point average, Belisle earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in both men's hockey and men's golf this season, his second career All-MIAC honor in hockey. A team assistant captain in hockey, Belisle concluded his five-season Auggie career as a forward with another strong campaign, scoring five goals with 13 assists for 18 points. He recorded three power-play goals and a game-winner, and led all Auggie forwards with 22 blocked shots. He had a goal or assist in 14 of his 26 games, including four multi-point games. Playing in 112 games in his Auggie career, Belisle scored 29 goals with 39 assists for 68 points, including 11 power-play goals, a shorthanded goal and five game-winners, with a plus-13 plus-minus rating.
 
In golf, Belisle earned his All-MIAC honor by virture of an eighth-place finish at the 2023 MIAC Championships in October, finishing with a 54-hole career-best-tying 221 score. Belisle finished second among the Auggies in scoring for the third straight year, with a career-best 75.6 average, the 13th-best season average in the Auggies' modern history, and a .684 (397-183) win-loss percentage. He shot in the 70s or better in 16 of his 19 rounds this season. Competing in 43.5 rounds in three seasons at Augsburg, Belisle finished his career with a 76.62 stroke average -- sixth-best in the modern history of the program -- and a .693 (1,013-448) career win-loss percentage. A seven-time Academic All-MIAC honoree (four in men's hockey, three in men's golf), Belisle earned American Hockey Coaches Association/Krampade All-American Scholar honors in 2022.
 
Stellan OrvickA management major with a 3.61 GPA, Orvick earned All-MIAC honors in golf for the fourth straight year, one of just 18 MIAC men's golfers in recorded history (since 1984-85) to earn All-MIAC honors all four years of their careers, and one of just four Auggies to accomplish the feat. Orvick led all Auggies in scoring in each of his four seasons, with a career-best 73.7 stroke average, the best in a single season in the modern history of the Augsburg men's golf program (since 1994-95). He shot in the 70s or better in all but one of 20 rounds this season, including a career-best 66 -- the third-best single-round score in the modern history of the Auggie program. His 73.7 stroke average was sixth-best among MIAC golfers this season. Competing in 62.5 rounds in his Augsburg career, Orvick finished with a 74.74 career stroke average, the best average in modern program history. In addition to his four All-MIAC honors, Orvick was also named to the Golf Coaches Association of America/PING Division III All-Central Region Team in both 2020-21 and 2021-22, and was a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree.
 
Logan KonsAn exercise science major with a 3.94 GPA, Kons served as a hockey team captain this season. Kons provided solid leadership for the Auggies, finishing with eight assists in 26 games, with 23 blocked shots and a plus-2 plus-minus rating as a defender. He had one assist in eight games this season. Kons played in 89 games in his Augsburg career, with eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points, three power-play goals, two game-winning goals and a plus-16 career plus-minus rating. Kons also earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in the 2021-22 campaign. He earned Academic All-MIAC and AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar honors three times each.
 
Seth GoetzingerA business management major with a 3.84 GPA, Goetzinger earned wrestling All-American honors for the second time in his career with a seventh-place NCAA Division III National Championships finish at 174 pounds in 2024. He finished 30-6 in his junior campaign, with 12 pins, five technical falls and four major decisions. A three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American, Goetzinger also finished seventh at 174 pounds at last season's NCAA championships. He is now 72-21 in his Auggie career, with 37 pins, six technical falls and nine major decisions.
 
Tyler KimA master of arts in leadership major with a 3.67 GPA, Kim won the NCAA Division III wrestling national title at 285 pounds this season, his fourth career All-American honor. Kim finished the 2023-24 season at 30-2 with 16 pins, a technical fall and three major decisions, and capped his career at 124-24 with 68 pins, six technical falls and 14 major decisions, tied for 18th in school history in career wins. A four-time NWCA Scholar All-American, he finished third nationally at 285 last year, fourth at 285 in 2022 and second at 285 at the 2021 NWCA national tournament.
 
Charlie StuhlA finance and accounting major with a 3.98 GPA, Stuhl reached the NCAA Division III wrestling national meet for the second straight year at 149 pounds, finishing the 2023-24 campaign with a 25-6 record, with four pins, four technical falls and seven major decisions. A four-time NWCA Scholar All-American, Stuhl earned NCAA All-American honors with an eighth-place finish at 149 national tournament, and is now 92-27 in his college career with 16 pins, 16 technical falls and 17 major decisions.
 
The CSC Academic All-District team is part of the CSC Academic All-America program. The At-Large program covers student-athletes in 10 NCAA men's sports, including Augsburg sports golf, ice hockey and wrestling.
 
Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. Select Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
