MINNEAPOLIS -- With 28 of 32 wrestlers finishing in the top eight in their weight classes, including 12 champions/co-champions, the top-ranked Augsburg University men's wrestling team shined at its Augsburg Invitational on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg's 32 wrestlers combined for a 101-37 record (.732 winning percentage) at its invitational, with 28 pins, 16 technical falls and 13 major decisions. Twenty Auggies competed in the Gold division, with six champions and 17 placewinners, while 12 Auggies competed in the Freshmen division, with six champions/co-champions and 11 placewinners.
• No. 1-ranked 149-pounder Matthew Randolph (SO, Jordan, Minn./Jordan HS (Scott West)) improved to 11-0 on the season with his Gold weight class title, scoring a pair of pins along the way.
• Cooper Willis (SR, Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove HS), ranked No. 2 at 165 pounds, used three pins among his four victories to claim the title in his Gold weight class, improving to 9-1 on the year.
• Ethan Winkelman (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) remained unbeaten at 10-0 on the season, as the No. 2-ranked 197-pounder claimed three pins and a major decision to score the Gold weight class title.
• Brandt Bombard (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS), ranked No. 4 at 184, went 4-0 with a pin and two major decisions to win his Gold title, improving to 9-1 on the year.
• At 285, No. 7-ranked Tyler Raway improved to 8-2 with his Gold class win, with a fall and three wins over Division II wrestlers along the way.
• Karsen Otis (JR, Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly HS) improved to 10-1 by winning his Gold weight class.
• No. 8-ranked 141-pounder Cole Becker (SR, Maple Lake, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) placed third, as did Ethan Aird (SO, Darlington, Wis./Darlington HS) at 125. Cade Willis (SR, Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove HS, 141), Brady Swenson (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS, 157) and Nick Alexander (JR, Kaukauna, Wis./Wrightstown HS, 174) each placed fourth.
• No. 9-ranked 133-pounder Chance Suddeth (JR, Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton HS) and Gavin Hilyar (SR, Elk River, Minn./Elk River HS) shared fifth place at 133, and Karson Casper (SR, Coleman, Wis./Coleman HS) and Lucas Jagodzinske (SR, Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West HS) shared fifth place at 149. Trenton Dow (SR, Stevens Point, Wis./Stoughton HS) and Apollo Ashby (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) shared seventh place at 174.
• In the Freshmen division, Treynor Curtin (FY, Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg HS, 125), Owen Griesbach (FY, Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS, 184), Ethan Swenson (FY, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS, 197) and Keegan Kuball (FY, Waterville, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS, 285) all won titles in their weight class, with Cole Dummer (FY, Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove HS) and Jovan Vukajlovic (FY, Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor HS) sharing the title at 157.
