EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Winning 22 of 30 bouts, the top-ranked Augsburg University men's wrestling team won three matches, including two over ranked opponents, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Super Quad on Thursday, extending its dual-meet winning streak to 25 straight matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The No. 1-ranked team in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll, Augsburg scored seven of 10 wins, including a pin and a technical fall, in a 26-11 victory over No. 9-ranked Loras (Iowa) in the opener. Augsburg then overcame two early losses with eight straight wins, including a technical fall and major decision, in dispatching No. 6-ranked UW-Whiteater 27-9. In the finale, the Auggies won seven of 10 matches, with two major decisions, in a 23-9 triumph over host UW-Eau Claire.
• At 157 pounds, Karsen Otis (JR, Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly HS) went 3-0 for the Auggies, including one of the biggest wins of the evening, as he rallied from a 1-1 tie with a takedown and riding-time point in the third period to score a 5-1 victory over Loras' top-ranked Eric Kinkaid, last year's third-place NCAA Division III national finisher at 157. With his two other wins, Otis is now 13-1 on the season.
• Augsburg's seven nationally ranked wrestlers shined in the duals, going a combined 17-2 in their matches. No. 2-ranked 165-pounder Cooper Willis (SR, Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove HS) went 3-0 with a third-period pin against Loras, a 9-3 win against UW-Whitewater and a 10-0 major decision against UW-Eau Claire. Willis is now 12-1 with five pins, a technical fall and two major decisions.
• Top-ranked 149-pounder Matthew Randolph (SO, Jordan, Minn./Jordan HS (Scott West)) improved to 14-0 on the season with three victories, including two wins over ranked opponents -- a 5-4 win over Loras' No. 14-ranked Chase Fiser and a 2-0 triumph over UW-Whitewater's No. 4-ranked Dominik Mallinder.
• No. 4-ranked 184-pounder Brandt Bombard (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) improved to 12-1 with three victories, including an 11-4 decision in his opening match, a 2-0 triumph over No. 11-ranked Gavin Kohel of UW-Whitewater, and a 10-0, major decision triumph in his finale.
• No. 2-ranked 197 pounder Ethan Winkelman (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) went 2-1 on the day with a technical fall and major decision win, going to 12-1 on the season.
• Cole Becker (SR, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS), ranked No. 9 at 141, went 2-0 in his matches, as did No. 7-ranked 285-pounder Tyler Raway (SR, Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake HS).

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg has now won 25 straight dual meets, with its last loss coming in a 21-19 loss to Wartburg (Iowa) in the NWCA Division III National Duals finals on Jan. 6, 2024 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Since the 2022-23 season, the Auggies are 39-2 in dual meets.
• Against opponents from Divisions II and III, Augsburg is now 391-58-1 in dual meets since the 1989-90 season. Augsburg has lost just 54 matches to non-Division I opponents since the 1995-96 season.
• Against strictly NCAA Division III opponents, Augsburg is 375-57-1 since the 1979-80 season. Since 1989-90, Augsburg is 300-47-1 against Division III opponents.
