Nina Makem (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) became the fourth women's wrestler in Augsburg University history to earn four All-American honors, finishing seventh at 138 pounds at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Xtream Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Makem capped her collegiate career with a seventh-place national tournament finish at 138 pounds, after finishing second at 136 pounds in 2022, fifth at 136 pounds in 2023 and eighth at 155 pounds in 2024. She finished her senior season with a 20-5 record, with 10 technical falls and five pins. Makem ended her career with a 104-21 record, with 53 technical falls and 28 pins -- with the victories, pins and technical falls all Augsburg career records.
• She opened her tournament run with a 10-0, 1:41 technical fall of Alessandra Elliott of D'Youville (N.Y.), then scored a 9-0 victory over Nichole Moore of Fort Hays State (Kan.). In the quarterfinals, Makem was pinned in 2:35 by eventual national champion Katerina Lange of Grand Valley State (Mich.), who wrestled her first two collegiate seasons (2021-23) at Augsburg.
• Makem rallied back with a 7-2 win over Marissa Sanabria of Lindenwood (Mo.) to clinch All-American honors, but dropped a 7-4 decision to Nanea Estrella of Iowa. In the seventh-place match, Makem scored a 14-10 win over Alissa Caltagirone of Northern Michigan.
• Makem became the fourth Auggie women's wrestler to earn four All-American honors, joining Emily Shilson (2020-22), Marlynne Deede (2020-23) and Gabrielle Torgerson (2020-23). Augsburg has now earned 23 All-Americans (20 NCWWC, 3 WCWA) in the six-year history of the program.
