Auggies claim sweep of Rams

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Nick Hubbard (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and Aaron Jones (SO, Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) each hit home runs for Augsburg University, as the Auggies claimed a nonconference doubleheader split of North Central University, winning 13-1 and 7-5 on Wednesday afternoon.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg pounded out 10 hits, including five extra-base hits, to claim the win in the first game. 
• Jorda Sivoravong (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) hit the first of his two doubles in the game in the first inning, bringing home Stanley Regguinti (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS). Austin Lang (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) then hit a double to plate Sivroavong and Andruw Vela (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS).
• Regguinti led off the second inning with a triple, then scored on an RBI single by Sivroavong. Sivoravong then stole second, stole third and scored on a throwing error.
• Augsburg scored four runs in the fifth inning, with a pair of runs coming home on a bases-loaded walk and a hit batter. Josh Udelhofen (SR, Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS) then hit a two-run single to drive in Regguinti and Sivoravong.
• Hubbard led off the sixth inning with his second home run of the season, a solo shot to left. Sivoravong connected on his second double of the day to plate pinch-runner Stuart Hellie (FY, Amery, Wis./Amery HS), pinch runner Ethan Hathaway (FY, Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson HS) scored on a wild pitch, and Jones capped the scoring with an RBI single to drive home Sivoravong.
• Nick Allbee (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) gained the pitching win for the Auggies, throwing three innings of relief of starter Vincent Rupp (JR, Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline HS). Kell Piggott (JR, Superior, Wis./Superior HS) pitched the final inning of the seven-inning game.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg rallied from an early deficit, trailing 5-2 in the middle of the third inning. The Auggies tied the game with a three-run third inning, and took the lead with two runs in the fourth. Gelyn Boling (FY, Chicago, Ill./Brooks College Prep HS) hit his first career double to lead off the frame, and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Hubbard. Vela later scored on a wild pitch to cap the Auggie scoring in the fourth.
• The Auggies tied the game with three runs in the third inning, all coming with two outs. Hubbard doubled to center and scored on an RBI single by Carter Schmidtz (FY, Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), and Jones stroked his second homer of the season to left. 
• Augsburg scored a pair of runs in the first inning. Regguinti walked, stole second and came home on an RBI single by Boling, and Boling later scored on a sacrifice fly by Tyson LaPoint (SO, Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake HS).

FOR THE FOES
• Jacobi Woodfin went 2-for-3 for North Central in the first game.
• Abiram Terron De Jesus went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the second game.

• Augsburg closes its 2025 season with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Hamline University on Saturday (5/3) at 1 p.m. at CHS Field in St. Paul, Minn.
