Jacob MeinersMINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University baseball alumnus Jacob Meiners '24 has been hired as the program's next graduate fellow assistant coach, beginning in his role this week.

Meiners, who graduated summa cum laude from Augsburg in 2024, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in data science and mathematics with a cumulative GPA of 4.00. He was inducted into the Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society and received departmental honors in mathematics, statistics, and computer science. As part of Augsburg's graduate fellow program, he will be pursing his master's degree while assisting the Auggie baseball program.

A former member of the Augsburg baseball program, Meiners was part of the 2022 team before injuries cut his playing career short. He remained connected to the game and the program through his passion for coaching and his deep commitment to Augsburg.

"We're thrilled to welcome Jacob back to the Augsburg baseball family," said head coach Keith Bateman. "He's passionate about coaching and truly understands the culture of our program."

Meiners brings a growing resume of coaching experience. He has served as an assistant pitching coach at Owatonna (Minn.) High School and with the Owatonna VFW baseball program, working closely with pitchers on development, injury prevention, and mental performance. He also works for Major League Baseball as a junior BOSS operator, collecting and managing in-game data for the St. Paul Saints' home games. His background in data analysis, leadership, and player development makes him a valuable addition to the Augsburg coaching staff.
