2025 MIAC MEN'S SOCCER ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University men's soccer forward Carver Tierney (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week on Offense, it was announced on Tuesday.

Tierney scored four goals with an assist in a 7:20 span in the second half, as Augsburg improved to 2-0-0 on the season with a 9-0 home win over Linfield (Ore.) on Sunday afternoon. Tierney, who scored four goals with two assists for 10 points in 35 games in his prior three seasons at Mercyhurst (Pa., 2024) and St. Thomas (2022-23), doubled his career goal total in a 7:20 span in the second half, scoring goals in the 48th, 49th, 52nd and 55th minutes, while assisting on a goal in the 53rd minute. 

Augsburg also had a three-goal hat trick from Christopher Plaza Alvarado (SO, New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) against Linfield. The game marked the first time that two Augsburg players had hat tricks in the same game since a 9-0 win at North Central (Minn.) on Oct. 18, 2022.

Augsburg hosts the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in a nonconference matchup on Wednesday (9/3) at 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
