MINNEAPOLIS — The 2026 season presents a new opportunity for the Augsburg University baseball team as it prepares for a competitive nonconference start and a demanding Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule.
Augsburg opens the season with a two-day road swing in Iowa. The Auggies travel to Grinnell College for a doubleheader on Monday, March 23, before heading to Buena Vista University for a single game on Tuesday, March 24. The early stretch will test the team's preparation and resilience as it looks to establish its identity.
The Auggies return significant experience on the mound, a strength entering the season. A large group of pitchers who logged meaningful innings last spring are back, providing depth and continuity to the staff. Augsburg expects its pitching to set the tone, limit opponents' scoring opportunities, and keep the team competitive throughout the spring.
Offensively, consistency will be a point of emphasis. The Auggies are focused on disciplined at-bats, situational execution, and sustained production across nine innings. Establishing rhythm at the plate will be critical as conference play intensifies.
Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition begins in late March and runs through April. Augsburg will host several key conference matchups at Parade Stadium while navigating a challenging road schedule. Senior Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, when Augsburg hosts St. Olaf College. The program will recognize its senior class prior to the contest, honoring their leadership and contributions to the program.
With experienced pitching, an emphasis on offensive consistency, and a demanding conference slate ahead, Augsburg enters 2026 expecting to compete with urgency and purpose throughout the season.
