Jagodzinske earns OW honors at UWEC Open

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Lucas Jagodzinske (SR, Sherburn, Minn./Martin County West HS) earned tournament Outstanding Wrestler honors with a dominating performance, leading the Augsburg University men's wrestling team at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Don Parker Open on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Twenty-one Augsburg White Team (junior varsity) wrestlers competed in the 28-team tournament, with 11 earning top-eight finishes. Auggie wrestlers combined for a 63-37 record on Saturday, with 38 bonus-point victories -- 17 pins, 14 technical falls and seven major decisions.
• Jagodzinske earned his second tournament victory of the season with an incredible performance, outscoring his opponents by a 63-0 margin. He scored four 15-0, first-period technical fall victories, along with a 1:54 pin, improving to 24-4 on the season. Along the way, he reached a career milestone with his 100th victory. He is now 103-24 in his career, with 31 pins, 27 technical falls and 21 major decisions.
• Two Auggies earned tournament runner-up honors -- Carter Freeman (FY, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln HS) at 133 pounds and Colton Loween (FY, Roseville, Minn./Mounds View HS) at 165. Freeman claimed two pins and a major decision to improve to 21-7 on the year, while Loween had two technical falls and a pin to move to 27-6.
Cade Willis (SR, Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove HS) placed third at 141 pounds, as did Cole Dummer (FY, Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove HS) as 165 at Keegan Kuball (FY, Waterville, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS) at 285. Willis went 4-1 with a major decision and technical fall, Dummer had two technical falls and a pin in his 3-1 day, and Kuball went 3-1 with a pin.
Apollo Ashby (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) finished fourth at 174 pounds, as did Owen Griesbach (FY, Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) at 184.
• Max Sokolski (SR, Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel HS) earned the tournament's Most Pins in Least Time award, finishing sixth at 174 pounds with three pins in 3:37.
Brady Swenson (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) tied for seventh place at 157, as did Bowen Rothbauer (SR, Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) at 174.
