McElroy 2nd in triple jump at MIAC meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- D'Vante McElroy (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) set a new Augsburg University record in the men's triple jump, finishing in second place to lead the Auggie men's and women's track and field teams at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, held at St. Olaf College on Friday and Saturday.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• McElroy set a new school record in the men's triple jump with a 14.46-meter (47-feet-5.25) leap, a 7.25-inch improvement on the old school record of 14.27 meters (46-feet-10.0), set by Kevin Haglund in 2008. The jump is currently tied for 27th among all NCAA Division III men's triple jumpers nationally. McElroy earned All-MIAC honors with his second-place finish, his second all-conference award after earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in the 2026 Indoor Championships with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump.
• Vicente Bolivar (FY, Bennett, Colo./Kiowa HS) also shined in the triple jump for the Auggies, earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors with a fifth-place finish in a personal-best 13.74 meters (45-feet-1.0), the sixth-longest effort in school history.
• Nick Norman (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) set his second straight personal-best effort in the shot put, finishing with a 12.48-meter (42-feet-1.50) throw, while also claiming a 35.67-meter (117-feet-0) effort in the javelin throw.
Jamir Horton (SO, Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) set a personal-best 59.12-second time in the 400-meter hurdles, followed by Tyler Anderson (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) in 59.46 seconds.
Falens Byron (SO, Naples, Fla./Palmetto Ridge HS) competed in both the 100-meter dash (11.17 seconds) and 200-meter dash (23.11 seconds) for the Auggies.
• Paul Yang (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Washington Tech Magnet HS) finished with a 2:06.84 time in the 800-meter run.
• Henry Nelson (SR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) recorded a 4:16.66 time in the 1,500-meter run.
• The Auggie men competed in three relays at the conference meet. The 4x100-meter relay of Byron, Foster Mulvehill (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS), Horton and Bolivar finished in eighth place in a season-best  43.45 seconds; the 4x400-meter relay of Horton, Mulvehill, Anderson and Byron finished in a season-best 3:28.71, and the 4x800-meter relay of Yang, Nelson, Anderson and Tanner Rouillard-Horne (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Harding HS) finished in 8:58.30.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Allison Hookom (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) competed in two events for the Auggies at the MIAC meet, finishing in eighth place in the 400-meter dash with a 58.74-second time in the finals, after running a season-best 58.01 seconds in the preliminaries. She finished 14th in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best 1:07.97 time.
Nathalie Hain (SO, Pfaffenhofen, Germany/Schyren-Gymnasium Pfaffenhofen) set a personal-best time in the 400-meter dash with a 1:08.97 finish.
• The Auggie women competed in the 4x400-meter relay, with Emaire Greene (FY, Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop John J. Snyder HS), Hookom, Hain and Alwena Brix (SO, Plouay, France/Lycee Jean Mace, Rennes) finishing in 4:25.08.
