Jennifer Lemke (So., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in in the first game, and leadoff hitter Kristin Lideen (Fr., Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had five hits and scored three runs inthe two games, as Augsburg College split two games at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic at Cape Coral Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Augsburg claimed a 6-3 win over Bowdoin College (Mass.) in the first game Tuesday, but fell 8-6 to Dana College (Neb.) in the second contest. Augsburg is now 2-2 overall.
Lemke went 2-for-4 at the plate, including a double, with four RBI in the first contest, while
Jennie LaManna (Jr., South St. Paul, Minn.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double. Lideen had two hits, including a double, and scored a run, and Rachael Elkholm went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
Augsburg scored two runs in the first inning, while the Polar Bears tied the game with a two-run fourth inning. But the Auggies responded with three runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to claim the win.
Ekholm pitched a complete-game victory, striking out five while allowing a walk and nine hits. Augsburg notched 11 hits off of two Bowdoin pitchers, Gina Laugelli and Erin Hanley.
Augsburg used a five-run fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead over Dana College in the second contest, but Blair responded with a six-run inning, two runs off of Auggie starter
Becky Peters (Fr., Portage, Wis.) and four surrendered by Ekholm. Ekholm took the pitching loss for the Auggies.
Lideen went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring twice and stealing two bases. Ekholm had two hits, incluidng a double, driving in two runs. Lemke drove in two runs, LaManna had two hits, driving in a run and
Melissa Lee (Fr., Cannon Falls, Minn./Randolph HS) had a double.
Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (3/20) with games against Buffalo State College (N.Y.) and North Central College (Ill.) in the Gene Cusic Classic.
