Swimming 11/21/03 -- Augsburg vs. St. Catherine, St. Thomas 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (11/21/03) -- Augsburg College's women's swimming team competed in a triple-dual meet against the College of St. Catherine and University of St. Thomas on Friday night at St. Catherine's Butler Center. The final scores were: St. Catherine 98, Augsburg 58; St. Thomas 97, Augsburg 57; and St. Thomas 83, St. Catherine 46.

Kasi Clauson (Fr., Kansas, Okla./Cookson Hills Christian HS) had the best individual finish for the Auggies, placing second overall in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 1:06.84. She also had the third-best time in the 500-yard freestyle, in 6:08.44.

Beke Shroyer (Fr., Monticello, Minn./St. John's Prep HS) also swam well, with the fourth-best times in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:17.02) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.97), as well as being a part of Augsburg's 200-yard medley relay.

"Overall, the women swam great," said Augsburg coach Charlie King. "It will be hard for us to pull off a victory this year because of our numbers, so despite the score, we swam outstanding."

Augsburg competes at the Macalester College Invitational on Saturday (11/22).
