Auggies set top season marks at MIAC Championships

MINNEAPOLIS – With nearly every Augsburg University competitor recording season-best times in their final events of the season, the Auggie women's swimming and diving team concluded its 2025-26 campaign at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, held Wednesday to Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Danielle Hobbs (SO, Hopkins, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) set the 10th-fastest time in school history in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finishing in 20:20.95, a 1:03 improvement over her previous best time. She also set personal-best times in the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.24) and 200-yard freestyle (2:12.56), improving her best times by 10 seconds in the 500 and eight seconds in the 200.
Kaia Anderson (SO, Morris, Minn./Morris HS) cut 11 seconds off her personal-best time in the 200-yard freestyle (2:33.83), more than two seconds in the 100-yard backstroke (1:21.99), and four seconds in the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.45).
Amanda Cruz (FY, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) cut seven seconds off her previous best in the 50-yard freestyle (28.03 seconds), six seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.10) and 18 seconds in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:46.95).
• Diver Katie Brown (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) finished with a 257.90 score in the one-meter, 11-dive event, and scored 255.10 points in the three-meter, 11-dive event.
• Augsburg also set season-best times in both of its relays -- a three-second improvement (2:16.53) in the 200-yard medley relay with Anderson, Cruz, Allison Gray (JR, North Branch, Minn./Lakes International Language Academy) and Hobbs, and an eight-second improvement in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Hobbs, Anderson, Cruz and Gray
