Auggies compete at pair of meets

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Augsburg University women's swimming and diving team returned to action in a pair of meets over the weekend, competing in the St. Catherine University Triangular on Friday and the two-team Hamline Piper Red Invitational on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• At the Hamline meet, diver Katie Brown (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) set a pair of personal-best scores, winning both the one-meter (297.50 points) and three-meter (255.45 points) events.
• On Friday, Danielle Hobbs (SO, Hopkins, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) set a personal-best in the 50-yard freestyle (30.22 seconds), while also competing in the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.87) and 500-yard freestyle (6:12.73). On Saturday, she competed in the 50-yard freestyle (30.41 seconds) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.79), and won the 200-yard backstroke (2:37.57).
• On Friday, Kaia Anderson (SO, Morris, Minn./Morris HS) competed in the 50-yard freestyle (40.08 seconds), 100-yard freestyle (1:15.77) and 100-yard backstroke (1:28.64).
Amanda Cruz (FY, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) made her collegiate swimming debut this weekend. On Friday, she competed in the 50-yard freestyle (35.70 seconds), 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.44) and 200-yard individual medley (3:08.36), and on Saturday, she competed in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.00), 200-yard breaststroke (3:04.73) and 100-yard butterfly (1:30.75).
Allison Gray (JR, North Branch, Minn./Lakes International Language Academy) competed in the 50-yard freestyle (31.22 seconds) on Friday.
• Augsburg competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay on both days. On Friday, the quartet of Gray, Anderson, Hobbs and Cruz finished in 2:11.43, and on Saturday, the quartet of Cruz, Anderson, Hobbs and Brown finished in 2:20.03.
