KISSIMMEE, Fla. (3/18/03) -- Kristen Lideen (Jr., Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs batted in, and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as Augsburg College scored its first softball win of the season, a 6-5 triumph over Springfield College (Mass.) in a Rebel Spring Games tournament game on Tuesday afternoon.

In the second game of the day, Augsburg dropped a 9-1, six-inning decision to Rowan University (N.J.). Augsburg is now 1-5 on the season.

With the international tiebreaker -- placing a runner on second base to open an extra inning -- in place after the eighth inning against Springfield, each team scored a single run in the first two extra innings. In the top of the 10th, Springfield went ahead 5-4, but Augsburg scored twice in the bottom of the 10th to claim the win.

Runner Jennifer Lemke (Sr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) was placed on second, and tied the game when Lideen hit a double. Lideen advanced to third on a bunt single by Sam Kronschnabel (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS), and after a one-out error, Trisha Pederson (So., Cloquet, Minn./Proctor HS) hit a grounder to the shortstop, which was enough to drive in Lideen with the winning run.

Down 2-0, Augsburg tied the game in the fifth inning, when Lideen hit a two-run triple. She also had a single for a 3-for-5 game. Kronschnabel went 2-for-2, and Jessie Bowman (Fr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) went 2-for-3 with a double.

Shelley Harris (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) pitched a complete-game, 10-inning effort against Springfield, striking out three while walking one. Both teams had 11 hits in the game.

Against Rowan, Augsburg managed just five hits and a walk, stranding five runners on base in the game. Meanwhile, the Auggies committed four errors, leading to one unearned run. Rowan scored all its runs in the final three innings, with six runs in the fourth.

Cassie Hoss (Fr., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored the lone run of the game for the Auggies, coming across on a single by Bowman in the scond inning.

Rebecca Peters (Jr., Portage, Wis.) started for the Auggies and allowed six runs and 10 hits in four innings of work. Hoss finished the game, walking five and allowing three runs on two hits.

Augsburg returns to action in the Rebel Spring Games on Wednesday (3/19), facing William Paterson (N.J.) at 8:50 a.m. and Wooster (Ohio) at 10:40 a.m.
