KISSIMMEE, Fla. (3/15/04) -- Becky Ruckel (Jr., Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) went 3-for-6 at the plate with a double to lead Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped both its games at the Rebel Spring Games on Monday, falling 11-3 to Wisconsin-River Falls in five innings and dropping a 3-0 decision to Carthage (Wis.). Augsburg is now 1-3 on the season.

Leading 3-1 after two-and-a-half innings in the first game, Augsburg gave up 10 unanswered runs, as the Falcons scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning and four in the fifth to end the game via the eight-run rule. Eight of the 11 runs were earned.

Kati Tweeten (Fr., Spring Grove, Minn.), making her collegiate pitching debut, gave up all 12 hits in 4.1 innings in the first game. She had three walks and two strikeouts. Julia Grovum (So., Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) faced the final two batters against the Falcons.

Melissa Lee (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn./Randolph HS) hit a triple to drive in a run in the first inning, and later scored on a wild pitch. The Auggies scored a single run in the third, when Ruckel doubled and advanced to third on a passed ball, scoring on a throwing error.

In the second games, Carthage scored single runs in the first, sixth and seventh innings against Augsburg pitcher Shelley Harris (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS), who struck out three while walking three and allowing five hits.

Augsburg managed just two hits in the game, singles by Ruckel and Jess Bowman (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.).

Augsburg returns to action in the Rebel Spring Games on Tuesday (3/16), facing Hope (Mich.) at 8:50 a.m. and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) at 12:30 p.m.
