KISSIMMEE, Fla. (3/18/04) -- Limited to just three hits in the first game and six in the second, Augsburg College dropped its final two games at the Rebel Spring Games softball tournament on Thursday, dropping a 7-0 decision to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the opener, and a 10-3 decision to Westminster College (Pa.) in the nightcap.

Augsburg, playing without All-American shortstop Kristen Lideen (Sr., Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) for most of the tournament due to an injury, dropped to 1-7 on the season.

With just a 1-0 advantage after four innings, Wisconsin-La Crosse scored six runs in the final three innings to claim the win over the Auggies in the first game. Four of the seven runs against Augsburg pitcher Julia Grovum (So., St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) were earned.

Shelley Harris (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS)went 2-for-3 to lead the Auggies, with Grovum getting the other Auggie base hit. Augsburg had just one walk and a hit batter, and stranded all five runners on base. Grovum had two strikeouts for the Auggies, allowing seven hits and eight walks.

Trailing 2-0, Augsburg scored three runs in the fourth inning against Westminster to take its only lead in the contest. But Westminster scored five runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to run away with the contest.

Westminster, which pounded out 10 hits, took advantage of six Augsburg errors to score seven unearned runs against Augsburg pitcher Harris.

A two-run single by Trista Gundersen (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) and an RBI single by Trisha Pederson (Sr., Cloquet, Minn./Proctor HS) plated the three runs for the Auggies in the fourth inning.

Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (3/24), hosting Wisconsin-Stout at 4 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field. The game will be played indoors in the field's air-supported dome structure.
