Women's Swimming 1/14/05 -- Augsburg at Hamline/St. Thomas Triangular

ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/14/05) -- Augsburg College women's swimmers set two relay school records and Joann Anderson (Jr., Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) set a new school mark in the 100-yard freestyle, as the Auggies competed in a triangular dual meet with the University of St. Thomas at Hamline University on Friday night.

As a team, Augsburg lost 90-18 to Hamline and 89-10 to St. Thomas. Hamline beat St. Thomas 70-43.

The Auggie 400-yard medley relay of Leah Haan (Fr., Burnsville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS), Jennifer Winter (Fr., Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS), Kasi Clauson (So., Kansas, Okla./Cookson Hills Christian HS) and Dani Matzke (Fr., Faribault, Minn.) set a new school mark with a 4:46.07 time, eclipsing the old mark of 4:55.47, set last season. The Auggie 400-yard freestyle relay also set a new mark with a 4:29.94 time, shattering the mark set last year of 4:59.34.

Anderson set a new school mark of 1:06.69 in the 100-yard freestyle, bettering her record of 1:09.57 set earlier this year. Anderson also set a personal-best in the 50-yard freestyle (29.68).

Clauson claimed two season-best times with two second-place individual finishes, recording a 2:29.15 time to finish second by one-hundredth of a second in the 200-yard butterfly, and notching a 2:25.28 time in the 200-yard individual medley.

Leah Haan (Fr., Burnsville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) set a first-ever school mark in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:40.99. She also set a personal-best mark in the 50-yard freestyle (29.89).

Matzke swam to a 27.27 time in the 50-yard freestyle, just off her personal-best time of 27.21 set earlier this year. Lindsey Persons (So., Wayzata, Minn./Orono HS) also swam to a personal-best in the 50-yard freestyle (30.29).

Augsburg hosts a dual meet against Minnesota-Morris on Friday (1/21) at 6 p.m. at the College of St. Catherine Butler Center pool in St. Paul.
