Women's Swimming 12/10/05 -- Augsburg, Hamline at St. Mary's Triangular

WINONA, Minn. (12/10/05) -- Tyrrell Dupey (Fr., Urbandale, Iowa/West Des Moines Dowling HS) recorded an individual victory and placed second in another event, while swimming the third leg of a school-record-setting relay performance, leading Augsburg College in a triangular meet with Hamline University at St. Mary's University on Saturday.

As a team, Augsburg lost 62-39 to St. Mary's and 65-29 to Hamline. Hamline topped St. Mary's 60-45 in the other leg of the triangular.

Dupey won the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best 1:11.25, while taking second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:32.91, also a season best.

The Auggie 400-yard medley relay squad of Liz Wiggen (Fr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), Trudy Pommerening (So., Bemidji, Minn.), Dupey and Melissa Warfield (Fr., Rogers, Minn./Buffalo HS) set a new school record with a 4:42.15, second-place finish. They bettered the old mark of 4:55.47, set in the 2003-04 season.

Warfield placed second for the Auggies in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.59) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (27.35), while Wiggen placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.12) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.18).

Sam Sedlak (Fr., Schaumburg, Ill.) scored a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.35) and a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:40.27). Stephanie Storlie (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) had two fourth-place finishes, in the 500-yard freestyle (6:45.12) and 1,000-yard freestyle (13:52.96), and Amanda Jacobson (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) recorded a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (31.15) and sixth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:14.22).

Augsburg will host Wisconsin-River Falls in a dual meet next Saturday (12/17) at 3 p.m. at the College of St. Catherine's Butler Center pool in St. Paul, Minn.
