Women's Swimming 1/28/06 -- Minnesota-Morris 118.5, Augsburg 65.5
MORRIS, Minn. (1/28/06) -- Melissa Warfield (Fr., Rogers, Minn./Buffalo HS) scored two indivudal event victories for Augsburg College, leading the Auggie women's swimming team in a 118.5-65.5 dual-meet loss to the University of Minnesota-Morris on Saturday afternoon at the Morris High School pool.
Warfield scored victories in the 50-yard freestyle (27.51 seconds) and 500-yard freestyle (6:04.77).
Sam Sedlak (Fr., Schaumburg, Ill.) claimed a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.09) while finishing third in the 200-yard freestyle. Liz Wiggen (Fr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:46.91) while taking second in the 100-yard freestyle. Tyrrell Dupey (Fr., Urbandale, Iowa/West Des Moines Dowling HS) had the Auggies' other individual victory, a 1:09.61 clocking in the 100-yard butterfly.
Amanda Jacobson (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) had two third-place finishes for the Auggies, in the 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle. Stephanie Storlie (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) had two fourth-place finishes, in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle.
Augsburg returns to action on Friday and Saturday (2/3-4), competing at the Minnesota Challenge at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
