Women's Swimming 11/11/06 -- Augsburg at St. Olaf Quadrangular

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (11/11/06) -- Kasi Clauson (Sr., Kansas, Okla./Cookson Hills Christian HS) won one event and set a school record in another, leading the Augsburg College women's swimming team at a quadrangular meet at St. Olaf College on Saturday.

Augsburg competed against three schools in duals, falling 134-79 to St. Catherine, 159-69 to St. Mary's and 155-71 to host St. Olaf.

Clauson broke her old school record in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing second in the event in 2:44.62. She broke her old record of 2:45.85, set in the 2004-05 season. Clauson also won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.95.

Liz Wiggen (Fr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) claimed a second-place finish for the Auggies in the 200-yard individual medley (2:41.03). Katilyn Stasiewicz (Fr., Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. John's Prep HS) recorded a third-place finish for the Auggies in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.88).

Stefanie Sanders (Fr., Lafayette, Colo.) placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.43), while Melissa Warfield (So., Rogers, Minn./Buffalo HS) had two fifth-place finishes, in the 50-yard freestyle (27.99) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.26). Rachel Doherty (Fr., St. Paul Park, Minn.) finished fifth for the Auggies in the 100-yard butterfly (1:18.91).

Augsburg competes at the Macalester College Invitational next Saturday (11/18) at 1 p.m. in St. Paul.
