Women's Swimming 1/19/07 -- Augsburg at St. Thomas Triangular
ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/19/07) -- Augsburg College returned to women's swimming action with a triangular meet on Friday night at the University of St. Thomas. The host Tommies topped Augsburg 44-24, while Hamline University topped Augsburg 74-20. In the other meet, St. Thomas topped Hamline 62-42.
In both meets, Augsburg's Sonja Stepanova (So., Edina, Minn.) claimed event wins with a 3:03.81 time in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Amy Storlie (Fr., Edina, Minn.) scored an event win for Augsburg in the St. Thomas meet with a 6:42.32 time in the 500-yard freestyle.
In the Hamline meet,
Stefanie Sanders (Fr. Lafayette, Colo.) scored an event win with a 27.03 time in the 50-yard freestyle, the fifth-fastest time in the event in school history.
Melissa Warfield (So., Roger, Minn./Buffalo HS) claimed a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a 1:02.37 time.
Liz Wiggen (Fr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) swam a 12:47.63 time in the 1,000-yard freestyle, the fourth-fastest time in the event in school history.
The 400-yard freestyle relay of Wiggen,
Kasi Clauson (Sr., Kansas, Okla./Cookson Hills Christian HS),
Maia Monke-Lundberg (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Warfield finished in 4:13.72, the third-fastest time in the event in school history.
Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (1/20) at 11 a.m. at the College of St. Catherine Invitational.
