TEAM STATISTICS FROM ARIZONA TRIP

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Augsburg College softball team had a solid spring trip to Arizona during the last week, going 5-5 at the Tucson Invitational Games to improve to 8-8 on the season.
The Auggies opened the spring trip with two losses to Southwestern (Texas) last Saturday, 12-4 (5 innings) and 10-2 (6 innings). On Sunday, the Auggies claimed an 8-7 win over Wisconsin-La Crosse and a 9-2 win over Minnesota-Morris. On Monday, the Auggies played three games, falling 7-2 to Lakeland (Wis.) and 11-0 and 7-3 to Dickinson (Pa.).
The Auggies rebounded in the latter part of the trip, winning their last three games. On Wednesday, Augsburg claimed a 4-3 win over Lakeland and a 2-1 win over St. Scholastica. On Thursday, the Auggies scored an 11-7 win over Lakeland.
On the week,
Bri Dorale (FY, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) hit .367 (11-for-30) with 10 runs scored and three RBI, stealing six bases in seven attempts.
Shawna Middleton (FY, Hastings, Minn.) led the Auggie regulars with a .409 average (9-of-22), with two doubles, five RBI and a .500 slugging percentage.
Brittney Bruzek (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) hit .345 (10-of-29) with three doubles, one homer, a team-high eight RBI and a .552 slugging percentage.
Jessa Hinz (JR, Richfield, Minn.) hit .324 (11-of-34) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, five RBI and a team-best .618 slugging percentage.
In the pitching circle,
Kylee Persing (SO, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) and
Melissa Larsen (SR, Andover, Minn.) both pitched well, each appearing in seven games on the trip. Persing had a 2-1 record, a 3.58 earned-run average and 18 strikeouts in 29.1 innings of work, while Larsen went 3-4 with a 6.15 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 33.0 innings of work.
Augsburg returns to action this Saturday (3/27) at 1 p.m., hosting Northwestern-Roseville in a nonconference doubleheader at Edor Nelson Field.
