MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College softball team claimed a 4-3 win in game two over UW-La Crosse as Jessa Hinz (JR, Richfield, Minn.) and Laura Strandell (JR, Pine Island, Minn.) each collected two hits apiece for the Auggies.

Starting pitcher Kylee Persing (SO, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) picked up the win for the Auggies, while Melissa Larsen (SR, Andover, Minn.) earned the save.

In game one, Hinz, Jennifer Castillo (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS), Brittney Bruzek (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) and Shawna Middleton (FY, Hastings, Minn.) all picked up hits for Augsburg as UW-La Crosse pitcher Heather Schultz shut down the Auggies and picked up a 4-0 win.

On Saturday against No. 21-ranked Luther College, the Auggies struggled early, giving up 10 runs in the top half of the inning. Augsburg was able to get one run back in the second as Brittney Bruzek (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) scored off a Steph Saxe (SO, Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS) RBI. Bruzek finished 2-for-2 in the game for the Auggies but Augsburg fell 15-1 in five innings.

In game two against Luther, Bruzek and Hinz both picked up hits for Augsburg. The Auggies left six runners on base and fell 8-0 in six innings.

Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (3/13) when it travels to Tuscon, Ariz. to take part in the Tucson Invitational.
